Dwayne Smith

Since December of 2012, Pastor Dwayne has been the Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He is a native of Fayetteville, NC and  graduated from Berean Baptist Academy in 1982. Upon graduating from BBA, He went to college at Hyles-Anderson College off and on from the fall of 1982 to 1987. In 1987, he returned back to Fayetteville and enrolled at Fayetteville Tech and earned a degree in Emergency Medical Services gaining his NC certification as a EMT-Paramedic. He went on to work as a Paramedic for Cumberland County from 1988 to 1993 then went to work in the same capacity in Wake County from 1993 to 1999.

     In 1996, he answered God's call to true assurance of salvation and the call to ministry. Soon after he began finishing his degree through Bethany Theological Seminary and in 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries.  In 2015, he finished his Masters of Divinity from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He has served in various areas of ministry. From 1999-2003, he served as a fourth grade teacher and adult SS teacher at Faith Baptist Church and Schools in Canoga Park, California. Upon returning back to Fayetteville in 2003, he served as youth and music director at Lighthouse Baptist Church and also as an Elementary Principal/AD at Liberty Christian Academy in Fayetteville, NC. In 2008, he answered the call to serve at the church he grew up in at Berean Baptist Church as Upward Sports Director and Associate Pastor. In 2012, he answered the call to become the senior Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

     He has been married to his wife, Shawn for 32 years in which they have two children, Bradley and Morgan. Since 1999, Shawn has been involved in Christian Education serving as an elementary teacher in grades ranging from K-5 to 4th grade and has been the Elementary Principal since 2019. Bradley served in the US Army for 5 years and is a graduate from Concordia University and is now a market analyst with ULine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been married to Robyn for 9 years and they are expecting their first child in June. Morgan recently married Noah Hinkle in which they both serve in the youth ministries at Whipple Heights Alliance Church in Canton, Ohio.

     Pastor Dwayne is an avid reader of history, theology and biographies. His heroes in the ministry are R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur, Martin Luther, John Calvin and Charles Spurgeon. His favorite president is Ronald Reagan and favorite world leader in none other than the great Winston Churchill. He also is a long-distance runner in which he has run 5 half-marathons and 2 full-marathons. He also officiates as a High School Sports official in Football, volleyball, basketball, baseball and girls fast-pitch softball. His favorite places to eat are any good steak and seafood house, Italian,  Arby's and of course, Chick-fil-a and an aficionado of good locally owned coffee shops and is also very fond of anything made with chocolate.
